Establishing the value of the enclosed item has been prepared by myself and in providing
this opinion I have no intention or contemplated future interest in the subject property
as this would prevent me from making an initial unbiased appraisal.
This appraisal is for you and you alone and for the purpose stated and is not exchangeable in the
future should you decide to sell it, this document must not be used as an inducement to buy as
This would be illegal.
I am giving you the benefit of my experience in the industry and using my contacts and suppliers
trying to estimate an honest value of the item should it be offered in the trade.
There is no clear cut price structure in the Jewellery industry though it is not unusual for some
retail companies to add as much as 300-500% profit, due to their overheads etc. which are
considerable these days.
The stones are not removed from the setting for the assessment, the accuracy is limited to
the extent that the mount will permit.
All weights are calculated by using volumetric formula and all judgments are made taking
my experience into account over the last 34 years.
Assessment of the stones will be conducted visually using a 10x triple loupe followed by examination with a microscope to try and establish if they are genuine.
Due to the technology today it is impossible to establish 100% that the stones have not been
Filled, Colour enhanced or man made this needs specialist intervention.

Should you wish to establish unequivocally, the authenticity.
This service is available and I can advise you and supply the relevant information
which I do recommend for expensive items £39.00 first item and £24.00 for every subsequent
item plus Handling charge of £2.50 plus V.A.T Postage will be charged at cost.
Unless the description gold silver or platinum is qualified by a hallmark,then it must be taken
that this is only my opinion as to the nature of the metal, having applied touchstone
Acid testing analysis which is not conclusive.
Should you wish to establish this beyond all doubt, the item must be submitted to the Birmingham
Assay office for certification and again I recommend this at a cost of £15.00
plus Postage at cost this does include re-polishing after hallmarking and handling.
Because appraisals and valuations are not a pure science and are therefore subjective,
estimates of value may vary from appraiser to another and this variance does not constitute
error on the part of the appraiser.
